The Clean Air Club Bus (a recycled 1980’s era school bus!) is decorated with whimsical rainbows clouds and school children. Cook-Illinois Corporation, the largest family-owned bus company in the country, created the bus to help educate kids on the importance of alternative fuels and to suggest ways they can help keep our planet “green”. The bus showcases four exhibits:
- Air Pollution Display: You can see how the Chicago skyline would look if all automobiles used biodiesel.
- Renewable Fuel Display: You can explore the best options for renewable fuel used to run cars and buses.
- Lung/Air Display: Pulling a lever, you can see the lungs capacity of a child with asthma compared to the lung capacity of a child without asthma.
- “Green Tree” Display: Flip over the apples and you will learn how you can help the environment.
The bus is currently making appearances to schoolchildren throughout Chicago and Indiana. Anyone interested in having the bus visit should contact Cook Illinois, at (708) 560-9840 or hdejongh@cookillinois.com.
